MUSCLE BOOST™ is an advanced equine muscle-support formula developed for horses where muscle fullness, topline expression, hydration, recovery and show-ring bloom matter.
Designed especially for Equine muscle whether that be young developing Thoroughbred Yearlings, halter weanlings, yearlings or older show horses that need that Excelis Boost, MUSCLE BOOST supports fuller, rounder-looking muscle, Premier topline development, cellular hydration while allowing for normal muscle function.
Its formula combines glycerol, targeted amino acids, magnesium and antioxidants to help conditioned muscle look fuller, smoother, better hydrated and better expressed.
MUSCLE BOOST was developed with the heavily muscled horse in mind, using a hydration strategy that avoids unnecessary potassium loading(contains zero potassium)—an important consideration in HYPP-conscious feeding programs.

FAQ
What It Does
MUSCLE BOOST is designed to support the nutritional and cellular environment that allows developed muscle to look its best.
- Supports fuller, rounder-looking muscle
- Promotes topline fullness and bloom
- Supports hydration-driven muscle volume
- Supports normal muscle contraction and relaxation
- Supports cellular hydration and fluid balance
- Supports normal circulation and nutrient delivery
- Supports muscular recovery following conditioning and training
- Provides antioxidant nutritional support for working muscle
- Supports amino-acid availability during growth and conditioning
- Helps support a smooth, full, show-ready muscular appearance
MUSCLE BOOST is not simply about making a horse heavier. It is designed to help the horse express the muscle being developed through genetics, nutrition and conditioning.
Why It Works
Exceptional muscle expression depends on more than calories.
MUSCLE BOOST combines several complementary nutritional strategies:
- Hydration — helping support muscle-cell volume and fullness
- Amino-acid support — providing nutritional building blocks involved in muscle metabolism and recovery
- Neuromuscular support — supporting normal muscle contraction and relaxation
- Circulatory support — supporting normal delivery of nutrients, oxygen and fluid to muscular tissue
- Muscular buffering support — supporting normal muscle function during physical work
- Antioxidant protection — helping protect working muscle from oxidative stress
- Recovery support — helping support the muscle following training, conditioning, hauling and showing
Genetics create the potential. Conditioning develops the muscle. Nutrition supports the result. MUSCLE BOOST helps it show.
Key Ingredients
Glycerol
Hydration & Muscle Volume
Glycerol forms the foundation of the MUSCLE BOOST hydration strategy. Supporting appropriate hydration helps conditioned muscle maintain the fullness, roundness and dimensional appearance desired in highly developed horses.
Celtic Sea Salt
Sodium & Chloride Support
Sodium and chloride are essential electrolytes involved in fluid balance, thirst response, nerve transmission and normal muscle function. MUSCLE BOOST uses a sodium-focused hydration strategy particularly appropriate to heavily muscled horses.
Maltodextrin
Functional Energy & Formula Support
Maltodextrin provides readily available carbohydrate support and contributes to the functional delivery of the MUSCLE BOOST formula. It is used strategically rather than positioning MUSCLE BOOST as a high-sugar weight-gain product.
Taurine
Cellular Hydration & Muscle Support
Taurine supports normal cellular fluid regulation and skeletal-muscle function, complementing the hydration-focused design of MUSCLE BOOST.
Glycine
Amino-Acid & Recovery Support
Glycine participates in protein metabolism, antioxidant pathways, tissue support and normal cellular function.
L-Glutamine
Muscle Metabolism & Recovery
L-glutamine supports amino-acid availability and normal cellular metabolism during periods of growth, conditioning, travel and physical demand.
Magnesium Glycinate
Normal Muscle Contraction & Relaxation
Magnesium supports normal neuromuscular activity, cellular energy metabolism and muscle contraction and relaxation. MUSCLE BOOST uses magnesium glycinate as a highly usable source of magnesium.
Beta-Alanine
Muscle Buffering Support
Beta-alanine is involved in the body's production of carnosine within skeletal muscle, supporting normal muscular buffering during physical work.
L-Arginine
Circulation & Nutrient Delivery
Arginine participates in normal nitric-oxide production and vascular function, helping support normal circulation and delivery of nutrients, oxygen and fluid to working tissues.
Vitamin E
Muscle Antioxidant Protection
Vitamin E is an important antioxidant nutrient for skeletal muscle and helps protect cellular membranes from oxidative stress.
Vitamin C
Complementary Antioxidant Support
Vitamin C provides additional antioxidant nutritional support and participates in numerous normal metabolic and tissue functions.
Xanthan Gum
Formula Stability
Xanthan gum helps maintain the consistency and suspension of the finished MUSCLE BOOST formula.
HYPP-Conscious Formulation
Today's heavily muscled halter population includes horses and bloodlines where Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis (HYPP) is an important nutritional consideration.
For susceptible horses, management of total dietary potassium is important. For that reason, MUSCLE BOOST was developed around a sodium-based hydration strategy without unnecessary potassium loading.
The philosophy is simple:
Support hydration and muscle fullness without unnecessarily increasing potassium exposure.
MUSCLE BOOST is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent HYPP. Horses diagnosed as HYPP N/H or H/H should be managed in consultation with their veterinarian and/or qualified equine nutrition professional, with consideration given to the horse's complete diet.
Feeding Directions
Use MUSCLE BOOST according to current product-label directions.
Introduce gradually when beginning supplementation.
Always provide continuous access to fresh, clean water and feed as part of an appropriately balanced nutrition program containing quality forage, adequate protein, vitamins and minerals.
MUSCLE BOOST is designed to complement appropriate nutrition and conditioning—not replace them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is MUSCLE BOOST a weight-gain product?
No. MUSCLE BOOST is designed primarily around muscle support, hydration, fullness, recovery and muscular expression rather than simply increasing body weight through additional calories.
Does MUSCLE BOOST build muscle?
Muscular development ultimately depends upon genetics, appropriate dietary protein and amino acids, energy intake, health and conditioning. MUSCLE BOOST supports the physiological and nutritional environment surrounding that process while helping developed muscle maintain hydration, recovery and visible fullness.
Why is hydration important to muscle appearance?
Skeletal muscle contains a substantial amount of water. Appropriate hydration contributes to cellular volume, normal muscle function and the full muscular appearance desired in conditioned horses.
Was MUSCLE BOOST designed with HYPP horses in mind?
Yes. Because HYPP occurs within portions of the heavily muscled halter population, potassium management was considered during development of the MUSCLE BOOST nutritional strategy.
MUSCLE BOOST uses a sodium-focused hydration approach without unnecessary potassium loading. It is not a treatment for HYPP, and total dietary management remains important for affected horses.
Why magnesium glycinate?
Magnesium supports normal neuromuscular activity, cellular energy metabolism and normal muscle contraction and relaxation. Magnesium glycinate provides magnesium in a highly usable form.
Why L-arginine?
Arginine participates in normal nitric-oxide production and vascular function, supporting the body's normal ability to deliver blood, nutrients and oxygen to muscular tissue.
Why Vitamin E?
Vitamin E is an important antioxidant nutrient for skeletal muscle and helps protect cellular membranes against oxidative stress.
